It can be frustrating when your phone dies at a crucial moment and there is nowhere to plug in your charger.

But if you have a friend who is also an iPhone owner by your side, you could be in luck.

The iPhone 15 can act like a portable charger with this one clever charging function.

You can charge other Apple devices such as other models of iPhone, Airpods, and Apple Watch using your mobile device.

Apple website explains that if both devices have a USB-C connector, then you can connect them and share your battery.

If it is two iPhones, then the one with a higher battery level will charge the other.

Once connected, iPhone will automatically know which phone has a lower battery percentage and will power it up while losing charge of its own.

And the option isn’t only limited to iPhone 15 as you can boost up the battery of older models too.

You just need to make sure to have a USB-C to Lighting cable as iPhone 15 had to make a switch from Apple’s signature cord.

One user online shared that their iPhone 15 lost nine per cent of its battery to boost an iPhone 11 from 10 to 32 per cent.

Unfortunately, the feature isn’t available on older iPhones and they can’t charge one another or iPhone 15.

The charging hack has been hailed a new-age romantic gesture as it lets you show another iPhone user you “really love them”.

One person wrote on Twitter: “That’s how you show somebody that you really love them.”

Another one said: “This is the future.”

A third person wrote: “This could come in handy.”

Tips to save battery

There are a few other things you can do when your device is on low power, such as enabling Low Power Mode.

This helpful iPhone tool helps to extend battery life when your device is running out of juice.

To turn Low Power Mode on or off, go to Settings, then Battery, and toggle on Low Power Mode.

Another setting you can adjust that causes battery drain is having your screen brightness.

Some experts suggest keeping screen brightness somewhere between 65% and 70% can save you a lot of battery power.

However, you should keep your brightness as low as your eyes can comfortably handle.

To change brightness levels, simply slide your fingers from the top right down on your home screen.

Once you do that, you should see the brightness slider – adjust it as you wish.
