THE countdown to Euro 2024 is underway and this year’s European Championship will be hosted in Germany.
England are hoping to bring it home this time round after losing in the final to Italy in 2020.

How many teams are in the Euros?
A total of 24 teams will participate in the championship.
This follows the pattern established since Uefa expanded the tournament from 16 national sides at Euro 2016.
Which teams have qualified for Euro 2024?
The participating teams represent a mix of footballing powerhouses and emerging nations.
Of the 24 teams that qualified for the tournament, 19 participated in the previous edition.
Germany, as the host nation is automatically seeded in Group A and will occupy position A1.
Other qualified teams include reigning champs Italy, England, Belgium, Portugal, Spain and more.
Georgia stands out as the only team making their first appearance in a Uefa European Championship finals or any major international tournament.
Notable absentees include Sweden, Russia, and Wales.

What is the tournament format?
The format for Euro 2024 will be the same as Euro 2020.
The top two teams from each of the six final tournament groups will proceed to the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed finishers.
The winners of the knockout round will then proceed to the quarter-finals, followed by the semis and then the final.
Berlin’s Olympiastadion will host the final.
What group are England in?
England are in Group C alongside Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia.
The Three Lions first group game is against Serbia on June 16 at Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen.
Kick-off is set to get underway at 8pm GMT.
When does Euro 2024 start?
The Euro 2024 final tournament is scheduled to run from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
The group stage will conclude on June 26, followed by the knockout stage starting on June 29.
The final will take place on Sunday, July 14.
