Homeowner details how he turned his ‘overwhelming 4-acre mess’ into a thriving lawn with trails using fallen trees

He has more landscaping projects in mind for the future

A HOMEOWNER has completely transformed his outdoor space after purchasing his dream home with his wife.

When they first moved in, there wasn’t much to see, but now their lawn is looking lush.

Redditor Small-repeat-614 shared pictures of his backyard makeover in a post on the social media platform.

“My wife and I purchased our four-acre dream property last fall and what a journey it’s been so far,” he said.

A failed drain field made the home a hard sell, but the sellers agreed to pay for a new one.

“The contractor warned me that they would have to tear through the woods,” he explained.

“I told him to go crazy, and they sure did.”

After the contractor completed the tree removal, the homeowner had to clean up his entire yard.

“I am grateful for what they cleared, but it ultimately left me an overwhelming mess of downed trees.”

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

The homeowner went to work clearing out the fallen trees.

“Thankfully, we had a very mild Wisconsin winter so I was able to start clean up early,” he said.

He took down even more trees, purchased a wood chipper, and cut the leftover lumber into “thousands of pounds” of wood chips.

The original poster also planted seeds to revive his lawn and used the wood trips to make trails on his property.

“The white clover I planted is thriving,” he said.

“The wood-chipped trails are looking good, [the] garden is growing, and my doggie sidekick is loving her home,” he said.

“Life is good.”

And while he was happy with how it turned out, he noted that his work wasn’t done just yet.

“I’ve got years and years of various landscaping projects planned,” he said.

LAWN LOVERS UNITE

The homeowner proudly showed off his property in a series of before-and-after photos.

The lawn went from bare to completely lush and green over the course of six months.

One Redditor praised his efforts in the comments section.

“Your property is stunning, even your lovely dog seems happy to have it,” they said.
