Erik ten Hag ‘frustrated with delay over Man Utd future and fears for club’s transfer plans’

The Dutchman’s relaxing summer holiday is currently anything but that

ERIK TEN HAG is growing “frustrated” with Manchester United’s end-of-season review, it’s been claimed.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe commissioned a review into the Red Devils’ campaign after their FA Cup triumph last month.

The review was set to culminate with the departure of Ten Hag, which had been decided weeks before the Red Devils denied local rivals Manchester City of a domestic double.

But the United brass have yet to relieve him of his duties, which has reportedly left him annoyed.

The Telegraph claim the Dutchman is “growing increasingly frustrated” with the lack of clarity on his future at Old Trafford.

It’s also said Ten Hag is concerned the club will fall “behind” their rivals in the summer transfer window should a decision not be soon.

Ten Hag hasn’t been shy in airing his transfer frustrations at United’s majority shareholders – the Glazer family.

He said last month: “There’s always a lot of work (to be done).

“It’s normal when you go into a transfer window…but we’ve had injuries and they’ve had a big impact.

“We know we are below our levels of expectations that Manchester United have so we have to catch up.

“I’m now going into my fifth window (at United) I think. Two windows were quite okay, two we missed.

“We have to make new improvements this summer but also there is a base in this squad that is very good.

“The injuries have had a big impact on our season.”

Ten Hag is reportedly aware that the United brass have held talks with potential successors – including former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

England gaffer Gareth Southgate is high up on the club’s list of candidates to replace Ten Hag, although the Three Lions boss likely won’t decide his future until after Euro 2024.

It’s unclear when a decision on Ten Hag’s future at the Theatre of Dreams will be made.

But what is clear is the former Ajax manager’s belief that he’s still the right man to steer the club forward.

When asked if he thinks he’s got what it takes to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford, he said last month: “Absolutely.

“If the right players are available, we have a good squad.

“We miss almost the whole backline and then we have problems. I will keep fighting.”
