Bosses have revealed the plot line for the brand new thriller as the two women’s long-held judgements are exposed
JO Joyner will join a huge Hollywood star as they sign up for a massive new TV drama Little Disasters.
The former EastEnders actress will play a conflicted medic in a busy A&E ward as she faces a dilemma.
She joins Diane Kruger, with the two women leading the cast lineup for the Paramount+ drama.
Four expectant mothers are thrown together with their pregnancy the one thing they have in common as Shelley Conn and Emily Taaffe star alongside Jo and Diane.
The six-part drama will see Jo’s character Liz discover how the baby of her life-long friend Jess (Kruger) has an unexplained head injury.
Liz is left facing the excruciating decision on whether to call in social services over the incident.
A teaser for the show reveals Liz’s next moves put in motion “a chain of events that show how one moment can fracture and nearly destroy entire families and friendships”.
The synopsis adds: “As the plot unfolds, the consequences of Jess and Liz’s actions come to light, families unravel and the women begin to articulate long-held judgements against each other.
“As the truth is unmasked, deep-rooted issues and insecurities are thrust into the spotlight as the women question what really happened to Jess’ baby.”
Also starring in Little Disasters are JJ Field, Ben Bailey Smith and Stephen Campbell Moore.
Speaking about playing Liz, Jo, 47, said: “We meet Liz at a moment when she has to make an impossible choice between her duty as a doctor and loyalty to her friend.
“I’m really looking forward to working alongside this great cast and to start exploring the impact of Liz’s decision.”
Diane Kruger added: “I think this series will offer a relatable story which examines the crippling judgement levied upon mothers by society.
The story so wonderfully explores the fragility of reputation, with the rapid unravelling of Jess’ seemingly perfect life. I can’t wait to begin developing Jess’s character and explore the challenges of motherhood through her eyes.”
