BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent mortified as Jon Kay calls his BBC colleague ‘princess’ in awkward moment live on air

Watch our video as Sally struggles to compose herself as Jon attempts to move on

SALLY Nugent was left mortified as Jon Kay called his BBC colleague a ‘princess’ live on air.

The Beeb hosts were anchoring Tuesday’s edition of the flagship show when things took an awkward turn.

During their usual link to Morning Live to find out what was coming up in the show, Helen Skelton called out Jon, 54.

She told her co-host Gethin Jones and viewers at home how Jon had called her ‘princess’ earlier in the morning.

The 40-year-old quipped: “Jon said ‘morning princess’ and I was like ‘Hello!'”

Attempting to keep the show on the road, Gethin and Helen told viewers what was coming up in the programme.

But as they finished their link, Jon couldn’t help but make a cheeky farewell comment.

He told the hosts: “Thank you, Geth, thanks, princess! See you later.”

The dad-of-three’s throwaway comment left Sally Nugent placing her head in her hands before bursting out laughing.

Thankfully for Sally, 52, it was time for the travel news so she had time to compose herself.

Morning Live returned on Monday after weeks off air as they continue their ratings battle with This Morning.

The Sun previously revealed how the BBC daytime show is consistently beating their ITV rival on a daily basis.
